Sokoto Gets New Chief Judge

An Acting Chief Judge for Sokoto state, Justice Bello Abbas has been sworn in by governor Aminu Tambuwal.

Sworn in on Monday, Abbas takes over from Justice Aishatu Dahiru, appointed in in 1997, following her immediate retirement from service.

Tambuwal said that Abbas’ appointment was based on merit. “He has good track records of integrity, commitment and patriotism,” the governor said.

He urged the acting Chief Judge to work in harmony with his colleagues in order to move the state judiciary to greater heights.

In his acceptance speech, Abbas pledged to live above board, while commending the governor for reposing confidence in him.
