Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has warned public servants in the state against any attempt to pilfer ‎public funds reposed in their confidence.

The governor issued out the warning shortly after signing the 2016 Appropriation bill into law at the Government House on Wednesday.

“We will not tolerate any attempt, any attempt to pilfer‎ with the resources of government. We will not hesitate to push aside any public servant found attempting to do so,” Tambuwal warned.

Commending the State House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the bill, the governor promised that the budget, put at N174,391,603,308.00, would be fully implemented.

“We shall implement the budget to the later. There are line-up projects that shall be executed with the passage and signing of the appropriation into law,” Tambuwal said.

He confessed that government had not been doing well in internally-generated revenue (IGR) but “we shall do our best to boost our revenue generation mechanism.”‎

Earlier, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Salihu Maidaji stated that the budget was passed the bill without alteration but some adjustments in order to accommodate priority areas in other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
