The new Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara, Alhaji Sani Madugu has said that without the support of the Media in the pursuit of the service’s mandate, no success would be achieved.
He said this when he paid courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Press Centre in Sokoto on Thursday.
According to Madugu, without collaborative enlightenment programmes with the NUJ on the activities of the Service, the clear goals could not be achieved.
”To succeed in our mandate, we need Journalists at all times. It is with with your cooperation that success will be at our doorstep; without your cooperation, our failure will be at our doorstep,” he emphasised.
The Comptroller added that as a Journalist himself, he knew that Journalists had better understanding of government policies, which they “simplify for better understanding by the populace.”
He assured that he would make optimal use of the media throughout his stay in the Area Command.
Responding, Chairman of NUJ, Isa Abubakar assured the Comptroller that members of the NUJ would continue to support the service, adding that there had been cordial relationship between the two organisations and hoped for its sustenance.
