The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in charge of Sokoto state, Adamu Soja Saddabs has said that the Command’s major challenge is the activities of smugglers of petroleum products.
Speaking exclusively with Newsdiaryonline in his office on Wednesday, the Commandant disclosed that of the cases he has handled since his assumption in office in September 2015, the most challenging were these category of economic saboteurs.
“These smugglers use trucks at Gudu, Gada, Tangaza and Illela border areas to smuggle out petroleum products to neighbouring countries,” Saddabs told Newsdiaryonline.
He said that he had handled about 22 cases out of which he had prosecuted nine cases in four months.
While applauding the synergy in the area of intelligence gathering and sharing between security agencies in the state, Saddabs also commended the cooperation of communities, especially traditional leaders, in volunteering information.
“Their cooperation has assisted us in carrying out our duties more effectively,” he said.
