The Kano state governorship candidate of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Alhaji Yahaya Kyabo, has condemned recent political clashes between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of the All Progressive Congress (APC), which took place in Kano.

Kyabo who spoke with Newsdiaryonline through a telephone conversation on Sunday said that the clash between APC and PDP supporters along Hadeja road in Nasarawa local government of the state was a deliberate attempt to destabilize democratic processes.

He added that if leaders of the APC and the PDP were not capable of controlling their supporters, “It means that it is disastrous to entrust power in their hands because they cannot control a simple group of irate supporters.”

Kyabo stressed that the used of weapons, including guns during electioneering is not for any political process. “The act is unrealistic, undemocratic and it sends dangerous signal to the future of this country.”

Alleging that the two parties had failed to provide democratic dividends in the state in the last 15 years, he called on the people of Kano state to elect candidates of the UPN in this month’s election.

Kyabo said that the UPN would will meet the expectations of the people by ensuring good democratic governance. “The party will create job opportunities for our teeming youths through skills acquisitions programmes.”

“The UPN will implement people-oriented programs that would enhance their well-being. Our party has humane agenda geared at improving our human lot.”
