The governorship candidate of the All Progressive Party (APC) in Sokoto state, Speaker Aminu Tambuwal has called on the people of the state, to resist all kinds of violence during the implementation of the electoral processes.

He made the call during the party’s electioneering, which took place on Sunday at Tureta town in Tureta local government of Sokoto state.

“As progressives, all hands must be geared towards promoting peaceful atmosphere for peaceful conduct of the elections. I therefore urge you to conduct yourselves in peaceful manner so that the whole process could be rancour-free,” Tambuwal said.

Promising to build upon the existing structures put in place by Governor Aliyu Wamakko, he assured the people of rapid socio-political and economic development of the state if elected.

Also speaking, Governor Wamakko told party members to safeguard their permanent voter cards (PVCs) against misuse.

Receiving 1,700 people that defected to the APC in Tureta town, he advised: “Don’t sell your voter card as it remains the weapon needed to ensure a positive democratic change in Nigeria.

“Anyone that offers you money collect it but make sure you cast your votes for APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections,” Wamakko said.

The Governor also called on the people to shun all kinds of provocative statement “from the opposition to ensure peaceful conduct of all electoral  processes. As progressives, we should always promote political tolerance and understanding.”
