2015: Sokoto NUJ warns against biased reportage by Abdallah el-Kurebe

As the 2015 general elections approach, the Sokoto State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has warned its members against biased reporting.

The state chairman of the Union, Alhaji Labaran Lumo Dundaye issued the warning in
Sokoto on today.

The warning, according to him, became necessary to enable members of
the Union to give level-playing ground for all the registered political parties in the state.

According to him, “We have to give equal opportunities to all political parties as
well as be fair to all.
We are here to serve the public and as such have to provide equal access to the political parties.”

Disclosing that the Union at the National and state levels had packaged refresher courses for members on how to report
objectively, Dundaye further said that the state council had mapped out strategies to monitor the conduct of the members before, during and after the general polls.
